RANGSIT ANGLICAN CHURCH

The vision to be involved in mission work in Thailand was conceived by Bishop Datuk Albert Vun. After months of seeking God’s heart and plan, the Diocese of Sabah finally decided to take the step of faith to set up Rangsit Anglican Church.

Rangsit Anglican Outreach Centre (now known as Rangsit Anglican Church) is situated in the heart of Muang Ake community with Rangsit University as their main focus point. It is a house church, using a four-bedroom detached house, which is well suited for worship service as the ground floor hall can accommodate up to 60 people. Bishop Albert Vun inaugurated the first Sunday Worship Service on 28 February 2010. Today, the church has an adult and a young working adult cell group. They have started the Alpha course, with help from Christ Church Bangkok. In one year, they reached out to more than 50 university students. More than 10 students accepted Christ through the Alpha course.

In 2014 the Diocese of Sabah commissioned Revd Tan Chor Kee and his wife Lily Tsen to Thailand to take over the Rangsit ministry, and they also received their first Thai staff, Ms Samon Trongjitsunthorn in April 2013.

Today, the team is learning how to go beyond the walls of the church. They noted the Thai’s keen desire to learn English and started six English classes as a bridge to the community. Three of these classes are in three different communities: Napa Village, Luk Hok Community (which is a slum community), and a joint venture project with Boys’ Brigade Thailand at Sataporn Village. The attendance at their English classes averages between 35 to 40 students weekly.
