ST ANDREW’S CHURCH CHIANGMAI

The first step into Chiangmai began as early as 2006, when a team of leaders led by Archdeacon Seow Chai Pin was invited to a Prayer and Study Tour organised by the ACT. Subsequently, short term teams were sent every year to learn and minister alongside a local church and a local school. The vision gathered momentum when a team of people was prepared by God to be stationed to serve together in Chiangmai. They were Rev Wong Chee Seong and Suhua sent by the Diocese of West Malaysia, Mr Gerry and Mrs Yahui Gan sent by St John’s Chapel Singapore and Mr Narin and Mrs Nijjarin Suranaawarat from Thailand. Besides the sending churches, the ministry was also supported by Church of the Good Shepherd, Church of Ascension, St Andrew’s Cathedral (Mandarin) and St John’s-St Margaret’s (Mandarin).

From an unwanted building, a dangerous place which no parents of the surrounding community would allow their children to approach, the Lord has caused St Andrew’s Centre to become a beacon of light. Today, the presence of the church has brought light, life and laughter to the community at Nong Pa Krang district in Chiangmai.
