CHRIST CHURCH SAWANG DAENDIN

It all started in 1997 when a small group of 7-8 believers gathered for worship at one of their houses in Sawang Daendin. This group of believers desired to grow but they were limited in knowledge and resources, so they sent Mr Kittikhun Rungreung to seek help from Christ Church Bangkok Thai Congregation (CCBKK). The weekly 8-hour (one-way) road trips started from Bangkok to Sakon Nakorn for ministry. May 1998, CCBKK sent Mr Sombat Thamayut and his family to be based at Sawang Daendin to better serve the community, much to the joy of the local group of believers. By the end of 1998, St Paul’s Church (Singapore) helped to raise funds and bought a shophouse for the Sawang Daendin Church to have a permanent place of worship.Various ministries aimed at serving the community were started including community development projects, scholarship for students, special programmes for local schools, development of vocational skills and home cell group ministry. In 1999, Rainbowland Child Development Centre was started as a kindergarten.

Christ Church Sawang Daendin is not only blessed by workers from Christ Church Bangkok, it has been receiving volunteers from Singapore churches too. Westside Anglican Church had been sending regular mission teams at least twice a year before sending Gladys Zhong to be a full time missionary in 2015.
